Treating Acne Through Physical Treatments

By Nathan James

Mild cases of acne can usually be treated by topical creams or ointments. Treatments for more severe cases can include oral antibiotics, ointments and physical treatments like drainage or chemical peels.

Physical treatments must be done by a dermatologist. While popping your pimples does qualify as a physical treatments, it certainly isn't recommended. It can cause the bacteria that causes acne to spread and could lead to scarring. Physical treatments administered by a professional under controlled conditions will be less risky and more effective.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is basically the removal of the top layer of skin either by using chemicals or through abrasion. Chemical peels generally use salicylic or glycolic acid. They destroy a microscopic layer of skin cells which helps to unclog pores and get rid of dead cells.

Glycolic acid treatments are generally done over the course of several months, with a treatment every 2 to 4 weeks. Salicylic acid treatments are not as strong and can be used daily. They are often found in common over-the-counter treatments.

Comedo Extraction

Comedones - aka whiteheads and blackheads - can be removed by a dermatologist. An anesthetic cream is applied to the immediate area and the comedones are removed with an instrument that opens the top, letting the sebum and dead skin cells be removed. This is normally followed by applying an antibiotic cream.

Drainage

Serious cases of acne can lead to cysts forming under the skin, which can be both painful and cause disfiguring. Small cysts are often treated by cortisone injections, flattening them in a couple of days.

Larger cysts be require drainage and surgery to remove them. Drainage often relieves some of the pain that comes with cysts and can also help to minimize scarring.

It is handled by a dermatologist, with sterile instruments. It is important that you don't try to drain cysts yourself because of the potential infection and scarring that could result.

Light Therapy

Light therapy is another method that is sometimes used to fight the bacteria that causes acne. It can be especially helpful in hard-to-reach spots, but the effects won't last as long because it doesn't address the production of sebum and dead skin cells.

Laser therapy is often effective for dealing with acne scarring. It can be used for both surface and deep tissues scarring.

Acne - The Equal Opportunity Disease

By Richard H Ealom

INTRODUCTION: Acne is a word for plugged up pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and even deep lumps (cysts or nodules) that occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders as well as the upper arms.

It is a skin condition that occurs due to the over production of oil by the oil glands of the skin and is most common in teenagers, but it can happen at any age, even as an infant. It is a complex problem, but one we are learning more about it every day.

TREATMENTS: Treatments include medicines and creams. Americans spend well over a hundred million dollars a year for non-prescription acne treatments, not even taking into account special soaps and cleansers. For that reason, you should use appropriate treatments for acne.

Moreover, many treatments increase the skin's sensitivity to ultraviolet light, making the risk of ultraviolet light exposure all the worse. Your dermatologist will decide which treatments are best for you.

For addition information about the types of treatments that are available, and for basic acne treatment guidelines, please see your physician or dermatologist.

Most mild conditions can be treated effectively at home, with good daily skin care and OTC (0ver-the-counter) medicines, such as benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.

If you are suffering from moderate to a severe form or home remedies are not working for you, contact your physician. There are many treatment remedies which range from covering up your symptoms using creams to attacking the basis for your pimples.

BACTERIA: Tissue injured by squeezing or picking can become infected by staphylococci, streptococci and other skin bacteria. In the process, these bacteria produce irritating substances that can cause inflammation. Now the oil and bacteria that should be coming to the surface of the skin is stuck.

The same bacteria and oils that are causing you to break out are also on your hands. Squeezing your pimples does nothing more than deposit and push more bacteria and oil into your skin.

CONCLUSION: Acne is an equal opportunity destroyer, with no regard to race, culture, gender or even age. While some people feel that their acne is aggravated by certain foods, particularly chocolate, colas, peanuts, shellfish and some fatty foods, there is no scientific evidence that suggests food causes or influences it.

Avoid any foods which seem to worsen your problem and for your overall health, eat a balanced diet--but diet shouldn't really matter if the acne is being appropriately treated. The best means for preventing the disease is to maintain a proper skin care regimen that includes regular use of masks and exfoliants.

The Underlying Causes of Acne and Preventative Steps

By Vilay J Niedermeyer

Acne can be caused by numerous factors, but there are a few key causes that are very important to learn. Such factors are also responsible for pimples, whiteheads and blackheads related with acne. These indications are just due to the undue sebum production, blockage in skin pores, activity of skin bacteria and skin inflammation. Sebaceous glands cause oil secretions so are among major causes of acne.

In retained sebum oil Propionobacterium acnes produce and replicate. Sebum provides growth and replication medium to Propionobacterium acnes. These bacteria also draw white blood cells from the blood. Inflammation of acne which appears at the skin as pimples, rashes or zits is just because of these bacteria. Facial inflammation can severely damage the cells and produce collagen. Thickening of the skin and scars formation can be because of collagen formation. On the other hand, collagen creation will be enhanced, which then causes these scars turn into more congealed. According to a recent report, hormones, diet, evolutionary biology, deficiency of the vitamins, stress are among the major causes of the Acne.

Foods that are full of saturated fats can really become a strong cause of having acne. Saturated food stuff is burgers, pizzas, meat, French fries, and other fried meals. Such foods can make acne problem more sever. Some vegetable oils are another acne producing foods. Several foods for example pasta sauces, chips, and beans are mostly cooked in vegetable oils. Vegetable oils cause acne by inhibiting anti-inflammatory hormone.

Sugar can also cause acne. Sugary sodas, cakes, cookies, chocolates, are rich in sugar content . Sugary foods mostly cause acne by enhancing your insulin levels, which can cause a negative effect on your hormone levels. So, in order to avoid acne you must avoid these foods and always try to eat properly prepared, healthy food if you really want to get rid of your acne.

A pore cleanser can help most acne conditions to greatly improve. For people with severly acne prone skin, a specially formulated non-comedogenic dermatologist product is recommended.

The most important first step in treating acne is to carefully monitor what you eat. By controlling the type of foods you eat, you can help prevent the conditions which promote acne.

Things You can do at Home to Treat Acne

By Hannah Castaberra

People of all ages can struggle with acne.

Lots of causative factors for this skin disorder are reported such as unhealthy diet and hormone fluctuations. Commonly, acne is treated with antibiotics. On the other hand, there are also some efficient home medications which are very cheap and effective.

Fruits and vegetables are amazing acne home remedies whether eaten or applied. Apply lemon juice with rose water directly on the acne affected area. After couple of weeks, you will see wonderful improvement in your acne conditions. Drink one glass a day of diluted lemon juice (you can add some honey in it for taste). This juice helps your body to get rid of toxins from your body thus ensures beautiful skin.

Alternate Remedies

1. Various herbs are effective in treating acne, for example mint, basil, parsley, birch leaves etc. In water, boil them and apply onto your affected skin by means of a cotton swab. Indeed, these all herbs have anti-inflammatory effects and are among best home acne remedies.

2. Take some sandal wood and neem powder. Mix them with rose water and apply this solution before going to bed. Rinse it away at morning. This tip is a very effective home remedy for acne.

3. Application of mashed cucumber for 15-20 minutes is also very effective as it has cleansing and moisturizing effects.

4. Application of thick gel of Aloe Vera directly on the acne affected face is also beneficial, ice cubes of this gel can also be made as Aloe Vera is among great face cleansers.

5. Almond oil also help treat acne prone skin. Apply daily for 10 minutes.

6. Tooth pastes can also be used on affected areas as they greatly reduce the swelling of pimples.

During the course of these treatments, you should abstain from eating refined carbohydrates, french fries, junk food, and highly processed foods. Instead, eat blueberries, grapefruit, apples, peaches, spinach, carrots and other fiber rich foods which will help your body in the fight against acne.

Discover How To Cure Acne Easily

By Hardi Raweet

Acne cures abound - there are natural options, anti bacterial preparations, steroids, hormone treatments like oral contraceptives and even laser or light treatments. How do you know which one will work for you, and give you the acne cure you want so badly?

Let's face it; living with acne is not easy. It can be embarrassing, and may affect your self esteem, which could spill over, impacting your social life, work or school. You need an acne cure, but with so many choices, how can you find a cure that works for you? Here are a few ideas you may want to try to find the acne cure that works for you.

Ask Around - A great way to sort the acne cures that work from those that don't is to ask people you know. You'd be surprised at how many people have had acne at some stage or another of their lives, and particularly if you're in your teens, up to eighty five percent of your peers have probably suffered from acne. Find out which acne cures worked for them - they may not have quite the same result for you, but there's a good chance you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Do a Little Research - If you're looking for the best acne cures, you may find them in a variety of places. Why not take a trip to the pharmacy, and find out which commercial preparations are available to treat your spots? You could also try looking on the internet, and speaking to your doctor. Another good, but pricey, option is to see a dermatologist, who can probably prescribe an acne cure that will work for you.

Keep an Open Mind - Of course there will be acne cures that seem ridiculous, and some of them are, but there are some very effective herbal remedies out there, as well as dietary changes and other natural and supplementary measures you can take to make sure your chosen acne cures work as they should, and cut down the time it takes to do that. While there are some acne cures and old wives tales that will never help, there are many that do, so while you should take them with a pinch of salt, be prepared to try a few.

Forget the Myths - There have always been rumors that poor hygiene causes acne, or that eating too much chocolate makes it worse, just as there are some outlandish and crazy acne cure rumors out there. It's always a good idea to check first, as there are many myths and old wives tales, and spending your time worrying about them, or even trying potentially dangerous home remedies, can make things worse!

Whatever you do try, give it time to work - nothing will give you overnight results! You'll need to give each of the acne cures you try a few weeks at least to work or not before moving on.

Another great tip to bear in mind is not to get despondent - eventually, you will find an acne cure that works for you, and from then on, it's plain sailing, and smooth skin, all the way!

Keratosis Pilaris Treatments

By Rico Kidd

There is a no cure for keratosis pilaris. However, there are a variety of ways to treat keratosis pilaris. Some treatments include, topical lotions, exfoliating scrubs, sun-bathing and taking vitamins. The cost of treatments can be expensive and up to $100 per month just for topical lotions. This article will go over cost effective treatments for the price sensitive consumer.

Exfoliate - Make sure you exfoliate every other day with an abrasive loofah or scrub. I prefer to use the KP Heavy Duty body scrub from Derma Doctor, but you can go the cheaper route and use Cetaphil and a loofah. The key point is to exfoliate and get rid of the keratin build-up. The rough, bumpy skin that is caused by Keratosis Pilaris is due to an excessive amount of keratin that clogs the hair follicle. Exfoliating helps reduce and unclog the keratin buildup in your pores. Some people have very delicate skin that can not handle the abrasive nature of loofahs. If so, make sure to lightly exfoliate with a less abrasive scrub or loofah, but most importantly, you MUST exfoliate. Without exfoliating, your skin will always stay bumpy.

Use a topical lotion - After exfoliating and drying off, apply a topical lotion. For keratosis pilaris treatment, I would recommend a topical lotion that has a main ingredient which includes either lactic acid, retin-a or urea. Again, I use Derma Doctor KP Duty Repair Lotion, however its quite expensive (about $80 for the set). If you want to go a cheaper route, you can use AmLactin. AmLactin can be found in your local drug store. I bought my bottle of AmLactin at Wal-Greens for around $11. The only problem I had with AmLactin is that it stings when you apply it to skin that has cuts or scratches (it contains lactic acid). The benefits of using AmLactin is that it made the skin on my arms MUCH smoother. If you want to go even cheaper than AmLactin, you can use Eucerin Intensive Repair Lotion. Eucerin also helped my skin become smooth.

Reminder, do NOT use scented soaps or lotions. Scented soaps and lotions can aggravate your Keratosis Pilaris and cause additional KP buildup. I also recommend cleansing with Cetaphil because the soap is hypo-allergenic and non-scented.

Sun bathing is a cheap alternative when treating keratosis pilaris. However, do not perform excessive sun tanning as your risk of skin cancer is higher when staying out in the sun too long. If you do sun bathe, remember to use a high SPF sunscreen and limit the duration in which you stay out in the sun. I've had good results reducing the red spots on my arms and legs by sun bathing.

Drink a lot of water. This one is a no brainer, hydrate your skin by drinking lots of water. Carry a water bottle with you at all times and make sure you drink at least 8 cups of water a day. Dry skin can increase the keratosis pilaris on your skin.

To wrap-up, make sure to follow these simple steps: Exfoliate 2. Moisturize 3. Use a gentle skin cleanser 4. Drink lots of water 5. Get some sun. Follow these steps and your skin will thank you. Keratosis pilaris can be treated if you put some effort into making your skin beautiful.

Adult Acne - Details You Need to Know to Get Rid of It

By Jason Z. Malcolm

Acne is a source of frustration for a lot of adults, and it is more common than you might think. The treatments that you found effective for your acne when you were a teenager may not work so well now. Most over the counter remedies can dry and irritate the skin, and can even make your acne worse.

A lot of adults try many acne remedies before they happen upon a treatment that's effective. If this is the case for you, you might be wondering if you really have acne, or if it's something else. Read on to find some facts about adult acne.

Many think of acne as a problem that only affects teenagers, but the truth is, it can persist into your thirties, and some even have it when they reach 40. Any case of acne that hasn't cleared up for good by the time you reach your mid-twenties is considered to be persistent. Adult acne often comes with deep, tender and irritated large nodules, and it is far more common in women. Persistent adult acne usually crops up on the lower part of the face- usually around the mouth, chin, and jaw line.

Adult acne is, by definition, late onset. Women are a lot more likely than men to get it, too. Those that haven't had acne since adolescence (or even those who have NEVER had acne) can be affected. Late onset acne can be triggered by a hormone fluctuation, such as menopause.

Regardless of when it happens, all acne cases have the same basic cause- an overproduction of sebum, combined with too many dead skin cells and bacteria in the pores. Overstimulation of the sebaceous glands can, like we said, be triggered by hormones. Many women break out right around the time that their menstrual cycle begins, or when they are pregnant.

Certain medications can trigger acne outbreaks. Women on contraceptives can either see their acne get worse or improve, depending on the pill they're taking. If your pill has both progestin and estrogen, normally acne will subside. If the pill only has progestins, acne can get a lot worse- as it also can if you stop taking your pills.

Other drugs can cause acne, too. Medicines like corticosteroids and anticonvulsants can cause acne, but you should never stop taking them because they make your acne worse. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned.

Most acne cases are hereditary. In studies, roughly fifty percent of adults who had acne have other immediate relatives that have it as well. Scientists aren't really sure why acne has a genetic link, but they are finding out more almost every day.

Still other studies show that stress is a major acne trigger, especially for women. Scientists have established a link between heightened stress levels and more severe acne in women who have demanding jobs. When the body is under stress it produces more androgens, that stimulate the sebaceous glands and cause acne flare-ups.

Those with adult acne should be selective in choosing skincare and haircare products. A lot of hair and skin products contain a high amount of oil, that can lead to cosmetic acne. To avoid this, look for products that don't have oil in them (they'll usually be labeled "non-comedogenic" or something similar). These will reduce your chances of getting cosmetic acne.

Adult acne can be a symptom of a much more serious ailment. If your acne comes with thinning hair, or increased facial hair, and an irregular cycle, you could have polycystic ovary syndrome or a disorder of the adrenal glands- or even a tumor on the ovary. If you have any of these symptoms, see your doctor at once. They will run tests to find out why you have these symptoms, and the sooner you treat them, the sooner your acne will disappear.

If you don't have any serious medical problems, your case of adult acne can probably be controlled with acne therapy. A lot of adults that have acne don't get treatment for it, because they think it's something they'll just have to live with. While adult acne can be difficult to treat, it is possible to bring it under control and even eliminate it.

Sulfur: The Best Acne Treatment Ever

By Andrew Smith

In this article you will learn all you need to know about the use of sulfur in the treatment of acne. This article will look briefly at the history of sulfur in the treatment of illness, and it will also answer a few questions. Some questions it will answer are how it works and how it effetely treats acne.

The history of sulfur as a health treatment goes back well over one hundred years. This first started with the aboriginals in Australia. They used sulfur for life threatening infections that come from wounds such as cuts and scrapes.

Sulfur is able to effectively treat acne because is works as an abrasive that removes the outer layer of skin, which exposes the new skin underneath. This makes the new skin more accessible to you to apply fresh water to flush out and clean pores.

You should know that many people are actually allergic to sulfur, and these people should not attempt to use it as a acne treatment. If you are unsure whether or not you are allergic to sulfur you should check with your doctor, because you will experience side effects if you are allergic.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the results will take a lot longer to manifest with any homeopathic or natural treatment than it will in a more traditional treatment. This is because the ingredients in natural treatment are much milder than more traditional treatments.

There are several different forms of sulfur acne treatment currently available such as lotions, creams, and bars. If you prefer something that can be applied with no mess like a sun tanning lotion you may want to try a lotion, but if you tend to prefer a cream then this may be best for you.

You have now been exposed to the basic history of sulfur as a treatment for infection, and you have a basic idea of how it works, you will be in a better position to use a sulfur acne treatment.

Learn How To Treat Keratosis Pilaris

By Rico Kidd

Treating keratosis pilaris can be a tedious task. However, your effort will result in smoother and more beautiful looking skin. There are a variety of KP treatments on the market and this article will review some of the cheaper options.

If so, make sure to lightly exfoliate with a less abrasive scrub or loofah, but most importantly, you MUST exfoliate. Without exfoliating, your skin will always stay bumpy.

Once you finish exfoliating, use a topical repair lotion. The best types of lotion for treating keratosis pilaris are lotions that contain either; lactic acid, retin-a, or urea. Derma Doctor KP Duty Repair Lotion contains some of these active compounds but cheaper options include; AmLactin and Cortol-20. Make sure you are using some sort of lotion after exfoliating so that your skin can retain moisture. Excessive oil build-up from dry skin causes causes keratin build-up.

Scented soaps or soaps with heavy perfume and dyes can aggravate the skin and increase keratosis pilaris conditions. Try to use soaps that are hypo-allergenic and do not contains perfume or dyes. Cetaphil is a good cleanser as it's hypo-allergenic and unscented.

Sun bathing is a cheap alternative when treating keratosis pilaris. However, do not perform excessive sun tanning as your risk of skin cancer is higher when staying out in the sun too long. There are many more Keratosis Pilaris treatments , but to review, make sure you exfoliate, use a topical lotion that contains the key ingredients, get some sun (do it responsibly), and drink lots of water. Remember, there is no cure for keratosis pilaris, however treatment for keratosis pilaris starts with knowledge about the condition and being active in treating keratosis pilaris.

You Want to Use an Over The Counter Acne Medication But Which One? Make Sure and Read This First

By Alex Hroz, M.D.

What over the counter acne treatment will work best for you? Lets take a look at some active ingredients in the most common over the counter acne treatments and what these ingredients actually do.

An active ingredient you'll see often in most over the counter acne treatments is benzoyl peroxide. It has an antibacterial effect on your skin. It also makes your skin cells turnover more rapidly, which clears pores and prevents them from becoming clogged again.

The most well tolerated concentration of benzoyl peroxide is 2.5%. Even though you could buy a 5-10% cream, it is better to start with the lowest concentration; your skin tolerates it much better. The 5-10% cream hasn't been noted to be more effective anyway, and the extra skin dryness and inflammation you get won't be worth the effect it has on your acne.

Skin dryness and irritation are often the most experienced side effects of benzoyl peroxide, and most people develop tolerance within about 7 days. To help clear your skin more rapidly, it is a good idea to slowly increase the amount you apply to your skin so that you become used to a higher dose. Also, remember not to apply too much or too many times in 24 hours because this can really dry out your skin and cause inflammation.

Present in white willow bark, most salicylic acid is commercially prepared--biosynthesized from phenylalanine, an amino acid. In plants, salicylic acid helps cells signal other cells when in trouble (under attack by bacteria); it also helps plants signal other plants when in danger. It is a plant hormone, a phytohormone, and salicylic acid helps mount resistance against bacteria and infection.

Many over the counter acne treatments contain salicylic acid (oral salicylic acid is also known as aspirin). When applied topically (to skin), it functions as a keratolytic, causing the skin cells to slough off more rapidly. Fewer pores become clogged, and there is more room for new cell growth which translates into clearer skin.

Solutions To Acne Found Around The Average Home

By Chris Channing

Scars from a less than stellar teen acne spiel take time to heal. You can decrease the total time it takes to heal the scars by making use of different acne scar clearing products, or you could save money by using home remedies in which to do so.

Lemon juice is the first home remedy up for debate. Lemon juice said to lighten the darker scars that your face will get over the course of an acne problem. The general consensus among acne help groups is that lemon juice also helps reduce the amount of pimples found on the face. Applying pure lemon juice devoid of additives for 10 minutes and thoroughly rinsing can do wonders for scars.

Any type of carbonated substance will do a good job in exfoliating your skin. To keep your skin from reacting to other chemicals, do not use soda or other flavored beverages. Instead use basic baking soda and a bit of water to create your own mixture. Apply the mixture evenly along a long enough time span, and you will see your skin looking refreshed.

The scars you already have will last longer if they are exposed to sunlight for an extended period. Tanning is a bad idea at this point in time for the same reason. The ultraviolet rays that strike the skin will make acne scars last longer and appear darker than what they were. Supplement your diet with extra vitamin D to make up for the lack of sunlight exposure if you plan to limit it. Vitamin D can also aid in scar repair.

Some types of oils will act to moisturize your skin while you are healing. After you exfoliate you skin a moisturizer is necessary to prevent any damage to the face. Coconut oil is an example of a natural remedy that does a good job. Not all tests have shown that users have seen positive effects from coconut oil, so be sure to test it out on a small patch of skin for the first week. Otherwise you may breakout from the application.

Severe acne scars will see benefit from home remedies. If you have given the mentioned items a shot for several months, and the improvement isn't noticed, you will instead want to go for other scar healing techniques. Be aware that other techniques are extremely expensive and that insurance usually won't cover them. Laser technologies and skin resurfacing also have painful side effects, so it's something that should be evenly debated.

In Conclusion

Home remedies are easy to obtain. Go to your local store to find the products mentioned. Things such as lemon juice and lavender oil will be easy enough to find, but make sure you get the right kind or else your condition may worsen.

Best Acne Treatments: Secrets To Clear Skin

By Dave VanDyke

There are literally hundreds of natural that can be used to get rid of those unsightly blemishes that so many are faced with today. The only obstacle is finding out what those acne treatments are and if they are worth using. Billions of people want to know exactly how to get rid of acne. They feel as if they have tried it all with no results and even more damaged skin.

No matter what you have heard, you need to understand that chemical based acne treatments don't work. The most effective acne treatments are those that are natural. A very effective acne treatment is taking omega-3 and fish oil supplements. When a breakout occurs the body's defense system is able to detect an infection. This causes even more inflammation to occur in an effort to clear up the infection. It is a major chain reaction.

Because inflammation is a natural occurrence, there is really nothing that can be done to turn off the body's tendency to fight the infection. All that can be done is to decrease the inflammation in the body so less irritation occurs. If there is less irritation, there will be fewer breakouts. Fish oil is a little more potent than omega-3, but taking the recommended amount of each of the supplements will do some good in your fight against acne. If the body has a deficiency in essential fatty acids a few things can happen. One of the things that can take place is an increase in inflammation.

Another important thing that should be considered in relation to acne is the likelihood of a hormone imbalance that has been caused by a lack of essential fatty acids. The essential fatty acids are known to distribute the amount of androgen evenly in the body that causes an overall balance of the body's hormones.

It is best to consume a diet rich in essential fatty acids. Some of the foods that you need to eat on a regular basis include lean meats, eggs, flaxseed oil, olive oil, almond, walnuts, salmon, herring, mackerel, dark green leafy vegetables, and whole grain foods. And of course, if you feel you are still deficient, a supplement will always make up for what you aren't getting.

There are more natural acne solutions such as using hot water to steam the face and open the pores, exfoliating with organic soaps before rinsing the face with cold water to close the pores. Some of the best acne treatments are right in your home. There is no need to spend a lot of money on visits to the doctor that will just prescribe a chemical based topical treatment or a medication that might cause more damage to the skin.

There are some potential dangers to using chemical based acne products such as irritation, redness, drying, worsening acne, and scaly skin. Some acne medication side effects include drying skin, thinning hair, depression, mood swings, dark yellow urine, night blindness, loss of appetite, red eyes, and yellowing of the skin, hair and nails.

It should be clear that the best way to treat acne is with a natural acne treatment. If you are still not sure how to get rid of acne, the best advice is to try a few of the natural acne solutions talked about here to see for yourself what works.

What Are The Natural Sources Of Resveratrol?

By Mark Verma

There are several resveratrol sources in nature. You might call them "good, better and best". In this article, you can learn about each of the sources and what amount you will find in each one. The health benefits of this antioxidant are believed to be numerous. All that we need is a good source.

Red grapes in general provide between .24 and 1.25mg per cup. However the variation of the amount of resveratrol present in grapes depends on the climate in which red grapes are grown.

Whereas Boiled peanuts have a higher concentration of resveratrol. It yields about .35 to 2.13 mg per cup.

Scientists must use a different measuring system to test these beverages. Amounts are recorded in nmol/g. Most of the grape juices and berry juices are no better than a negligible source of resveratrol.

It has been revealed that red wine is the bets source of resveratrol. People often consume red wine in their diet but the concentration that people require to reverse the aging process is very high. Resveratrol was firstly extracted from Japanese knotweed roots; it produced 187 mg/kg.

It is believed that all natural wines have some amount of this amazing chemical. But it is the red wine which has got the most chunk of it. The amount that is found in red wines varies.

Resveratrol is a highly concentrated content and has many benefits. The natural resveratrol which is found in the grapes is the best. Resveratrol is a potent anti oxidant thus it can easily treat cancerous cells.

So, obviously, if we want the perceived health benefits, we need different resveratrol sources. That brings me to supplements.

There are some supplements on the market with a very high content, as much as 200mg per serving. A moderate amount, 20-50mg per day is a better choice to stay fit.

Acne Remedies

By Richard May

Acne is one of the most common types of skin complaints that a person can suffer from and it is not just restricted to young people, adults can suffer from it also. Although it is most common for a person to suffer from the condition on their face it can actually affect other parts of the body as well. In fact the chest, back, shoulders, legs and buttocks can sometimes have acne form on them. But today there are various different acne remedies a person can now use in order to treat the condition.

A lot of people who suffer from acne are turning away from more conventional ways of treating this skin condition and preferring to use more natural remedies instead. The reason for this is because in many cases they are a lot safer and less likely to cause any unwanted side effects. Below we take a look at a few of the natural remedies, which you could use in order to treat your acne.

1. Tea Tree Essential Oil - This is one of the most popular of the various natural remedies for treating acne today. All that a person needs to do is mix a small amount of the essential oil with a carried fluid and then apply it directly to the affected area with a cotton ball. Once applied the anti-bacterial properties within the oil get to work killing off the bacteria that has caused the acne to erupt.

2. Zinc - Although popular it certainly is not as effective as the above mentioned and some of the medications that your doctor may prescribe. But it can still help to reduce the spots and so help to make a person's skin look better. However, if you are going to use this remedy you need to be aware that if too much is used it can cause other health problems and some people find that their digestive system becomes upset.

3. Garlic - Again just like the tea tree oil this contains anti-bacterial qualities and when applied directly to the infected area helps to bring down the swelling as well as killing of the bacteria inside. People prefer to either apply crushed garlic or the juice directly to the area; however you will have to put up with the smell if you choose to use this remedy.

4. Lemons - Are another extremely effective treatment for acne as they contain high levels of Vitamin C, which can help to boost your immune system. A boosted immune system is then better able to fight the bacteria, which is causing the acne to erupt.

Yes you can drink lots of lemon juice to help boost your immune system but a great way to treat the acne itself is by applying it directly to the affected area. What you need to do is take some lemon juice and mix this with some rosewater and then apply to the acne using a cotton wool ball. Once applied you leave the area alone to allow the mixture to be absorbed by the skin. This particular remedy in order to be really effective needs to be applied to the area affected at least two or three times each day.

As well as the acne remedies we have mentioned above there are plenty more that you may want to try all safe and effective. A quick search of the internet and you will soon discover plenty of other natural remedies, which can be made using products you have at home for a lot less money than those your doctor prescribes or which you can buy at your local drug store.

Acne in Adults

By Richard May

Around 25% of men and 50% of women are going to suffer from adult acne at some stages in their adult lives. Today it is not only teenagers but also people in their twenties, thirties and forties that are likely to suffer from this skin condition as well. Certainly, teenagers often find this difficult to cope with, but also just as many adults are finding it hard to cope with acne as well.

What is hard to believe that this skin condition is now as common in adults as it is in teenagers, and many people still do not know what the real causes for this condition to occur are. One reason why it seems adults may suffer from this form of acne like teenagers is because their have been changes in the hormonal balance in their bodies. But what is important is that an adult should go and see their doctor as soon as they feel that they may be suffering from this skin condition.

Along with hormonal changes being the cause for this skin problem there are plenty of others, which may be why one adult suffers from it, and another does not. Below we look at some of the other reasons why you yourself may be suffering from adult acne.

1. One of the other main reasons why an adult has begun to suffer from adult acne is that their diet is extremely poor. They are found to be eating all the wrong kinds of foods and their diet contains too much fat, carbohydrates and sugar in it. This then results in their body actually not getting sufficient amounts of nutrients to help it to function correctly. In many cases their digestive system begins to function poorly and the hormones inside them become unbalanced.

But as well as your diet being high in the kinds of things we have mentioned above you may be someone who chooses to eat lots of processed food (takeaways etc). Therefore, if you want to make sure that you reduce the chances of suffering from adult acne you need to change your dietary habits. You need to start eating more fresh foods and increase the amount of water (eight glasses) that you drink each day. Doing this will further help to remove toxins from your body and reduce the chances of you suffering from this skin condition.

2. Another reason why some adults suffer from this skin condition is because they have inherited the gene from one of their parents. The problem that some adults will face who have inherited the condition is that theirs can become extremely severe and lead to scarring.

3. Another reason for why some adults may get this skin condition is because they are using synthetically made makeup and skin care products. These products are causing the acid and alkaline levels in their skin to become unbalanced and results in the eruption of the spots associated with acne. So the best way to avoid such skin problems if you use such products regularly is by only using those made with natural ingredients in them.

Above we have shown you a few of the reasons why you may be suffering from adult acne. But just like teenagers you can use many prescribed and over the counter products in order to treat it. Along with using these it is important that you make changes to both your diet and lifestyle as well.

Natural Acne Solutions For Pimples. Blackheads, Whiteheads and Acne Scars

By Sara Makin

There are literally hundreds of natural acne solutions that can be used to get rid of those unsightly blemishes that so many are faced with today. The only obstacle is finding out what those acne treatments are. Billions of people want to know exactly how to get rid of acne. They feel as if they have tried it all, only to come out looking worse than what they did before.

Anybody that wants to get rid of their acne should know that chemical based are ineffective. One of the best ways to treat acne is to get enough omega-3 and fish oil in their diet. When a breakout does happen, the natural defense system of the body will detect an infection which will cause more inflammation as it works to clear the infection. It is like a chain reaction.

Because inflammation is a natural occurrence, there is really nothing that can be done to turn of the body's defense system. The only thing that can help would be to decrease the amount of inflammation in the body so less irritation and breakouts occur. While fish oil is more potent than omega-3, obtaining the right amount of both nutrients will certainly do your fight against acne some justice. If the body lacks essential fatty acids, a number of things can go wrong. One thing, as mentioned earlier is increased inflammation.

Another thing that should not be overlooked in relation to acne is an increase in the likelihood of creating a hormone imbalance because of the lack of essential fatty acids. These essential fatty acids are known to evenly distribute the amount of androgen in the body, which leads to a complete balance of the hormones.

The best advice is to eat a diet that is essential fatty acid rich. Examples of the foods that should be eaten regularly include eggs, meats, olive oil, flaxseed oil, walnuts, almonds, herring, salmon, mackerel, whole grains, and dark green leafy vegetables. If you still think you may be deficient, you can take a supplement to make sure you are getting enough.

More natural acne solutions include steaming the face with hot water to open the pores, exfoliating with organic soap, and then rinsing with ice cold water to close the pores. You can find some of the best acne treatments right inside of your own home. There is no need to go out and spend money on a doctor who will only prescribe you a medication or chemical based topical solution that will further damage the skin.

Potential dangers of using chemical based acne products are dryness, redness, irritation, worsening acne, and scaling of the skin. Certain acne medication side effects include dryness of the skin, thinning of the hair, mood swings, depression, night blindness, dark yellow urine, redness of the eyes, loss of appetite, and yellowing of the hair, skin, and nails.

As you can see, the natural way is the best way when it comes to the best acne treatments. Still wondering how to get rid of acne? My best advice to you is to try some of the natural acne solutions listed above and see for yourself! You won't be disappointed.

A Dermatologist's Challenge

By Lansing Dermatologist

Dermatologists do much more than treat acne and scars. Skin cancers are a particular area where awareness has increased dramatically in recent years and demand for services from dermatologists has increased with it. For many people, a mole or freckle on their body can become a life threatening mark that requires immediate diagnosis.

Other procedures a dermatologist might be involved with include laser hair removal, hair transplant surgery, tattoo removal and even face lifts. If it seems as though some of these procedures would be more suited to plastic surgeons, the truth is that many doctors do cross lines of speciality sometimes. Botox is an area many doctors are moving into because it's a relatively easy process with a huge market that continues to grow.

Most people do not consider how valuable a dermatologist can actually be to their health. It is actually very smart for people to receive yearly skin check-ups due to the current rise in precancerous skin diseases. Skin cancer can creep in at any time, especially in the form of a mole or freckle. If more people took time out of their busy schedules to get regular skin check-ups, the rising skin cancer rate would more than likely be cut in half. It is all about taking the right precautions for your health. Your skin is more important than you may think.

If you think you may need to see a dermatologist but don't know where to start your primary care physician can refer you to a dermatologist. Your doctor may want to perform a brief examination before he or she makes the referral but once that is done your doctor should be able to recommend someone appropriate.

Doing a little research can help to back-up the doctor's recommendation, it could also uncover serious concerns, like if the dermatologist has had any malpractice suits or complaints against him or her in the past. The internet is as good a place as any to conduct your research. A simple name in a google search engine can produce old news items and even blogs where people have aired their concerns.

Dermatologists offer nearly every form of skin treatment known to man. It is very important that we all make it a priority to receive regular skin check-ups. Do a little searching through your local yellow pages and see which doctors you have to choose from. You can also try asking the other doctors that you see on a regular basis. You are going to be amazed at how much a dermatologist can teach you about proper skin care.

Tips To Help You Combat Adult Acne

By Rupert Steel

Most people assume that acne is a skin condition that only affects adolescents. While it is definitely true that adolescents suffer from acne in great numbers, it is also true that many adults suffer from acne as well. Some may consider this surprising but the numbers of adults with acne are well into the millions. And, yes, those adults that suffer from the condition should seek proper treatment.

One reason many are not aware of the presence of adult acne is due to where acne appears. Adult acne along the lines of blackheads and pimples is known for not always appearing on the face. Often, adult acne can manifest on the back, the arms, the legs, and the scalp. In some cases, a person may opt to neglect their skin care responsibilities since such acne is out of sight. However, when acne is not treated properly, it may spread and grow. As such, adult acne should be treated seriously no matter where it manifests.

How can adult acne be treated? The common over the counter acne products that are sold in pharmacies will work on anyone with acne regardless of age. These acne products are comprised of ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. These ingredients can work well for reducing the presence of clogged pores and eliminate the unsightly condition of problem acne.

There are also natural acne products available for those that would prefer a more organic approach. Natural acne products contain such ingredients as Vitamin A and Aloe Vera, both of which can help reduce the presence of acne on the skin. Also, these products will not contain the aforementioned benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid which some may consider to be harsh products. Again, different people will react differently to treatments and some may need different methods to get rid of acne successfully.

Acne can also leave a number of scars on the body where it was once present. The ability to get rid of acne scars is not always easy. For the acne scars to fade away naturally, one will need to wait at least a minimum of 6 months. Thankfully, there are products that can help the scars fade. These products can be purchased over the counter and can prove very helpful.

However, if acne will not go away with over the counter products, then it may be best to seek the help of a dermatologist. There are various antibiotics that can treat adult acne and do so effectively. Also, there are medical procedures that can reduce acne scars. These procedures are quite expensive and may not be an option for many. But, as previously mentioned, acne scars may fade over time and this process can be expedited with the use of various adult acne products.

Once again, adult acne is a common problem that many millions of men and women face. Thankfully, it is a treatable condition and no one needs to feel the situation is one that cannot be addressed. So, if you are an adult and notice the presence of acne, do not fret. Treatment is available.

Cystic acne is painful and can make you feel awkward about the appearance of your face. There are a variety of risk factors for cystic acne.

You might inherit the risk of cystic acne from one of your parents. There is not much that you can do to overcome a genetic risk. Even in cases such as this though you can sometimes reduce your risk of outbreaks by taking precautions and avoiding some of the possible causes of cystic acne.

A poor lifestyle can actually lead to cystic acne. If you eat many foods that are greasy and have poor nutritional value, the health of your skin can be affected. Not exercising, smoking or drinking too much alcohol can also cause poor skin which increases your risk of acne and other skin conditions.

Use caution when washing your face. You do not want to wash too often or using products that are too rough on your skin. Makeup should be removed from your face each day. Do not forget to avoid using products that you notice irritate your skin.

You should try not to have too much stress in your life or to find ways to reduce the impact of stress on your body. Yes, even stress can cause cystic acne. Sometimes it just is not feasible to reduce stress. This is why you need to avoid some of the other potential causes of cystic acne.

Too much testosterone in men and the fact that men have more oily skin can cause acne. In women, improper levels of hormones can cause cystic acne. Women sometimes develop acne when they are pregnant. This is one of the causes that you cannot prevent.

How To Get Rid Of Acne Permanently

By Grant Dougan

Getting rid of acne is something that many individuals think is not possible - many individuals have used numerous acne treatments without any luck. It's too bad as having acne is a massive frustration! It's ok though - eliminating acne is totally possible.

Ok - let's go over the reasons that most acne products don't give you results.

Virtually all products are formulated to merely attack existing pimples instead of taking prevention into account and actually treating the causes of acne - this is a massive issue!. These products don't actually treat the problem, they merely try to treat one pimple at a time after they are already on your skin.

Here lies the problem! I don't see the point in treating one pimple without doing anything to stop new ones! I'm frustrated by the fact that the acne treatment companies completely don't pay attention to this fact, but I imagine it's so that you never completely do away with your acne and then continue to buy their treatments.

You need to find a treatment that treats all of the things that cause acne if you really want to clear your skin. There are four major ones: overactive skin glands, acne causing bacteria, inflammation of the skin and clogged skin pores. Eliminating pimples means you must treat every single one of these causes.

You won't locate anything really useful in the stores, but there are acne products out there that will actually clear your skin. You will notice that these act as a system and typically use a couple of steps to ensure you are fighting the causes properly.

Once you use a treatment that really treats the factors that cause acne, you will notice results in just a week or so. It's a fantastic feeling being able to look at yourself and notice the results.

Getting rid of pimples is not only doable, but it's actually incredibly easy once you locate the correct treatment system.

Skin Care Tips for Teens

By Amy Nutt

Teenagers often have skin problems, thanks to the raging hormones that cause some pretty drastic changes in their bodies, including the skin. With acne and oily skin being the most common skin issues faced by teenagers, there are a ton of organic skin care products out there designed specifically for teen skin care. It`s always handy to offset some of the problems ahead of time, though, so here are a few tips to get you started:

Choosing Skin Care Products

- Look for organic, natural ingredients that won't irritate already sensitive skin. Most teens have sensitive skin for at least a while and harsh chemicals can actually aggravate conditions like acne. - Skin care products that are designed for teen skin will probably work best, so look for these rather than products that are meant for adult skin, which tends to be more stable. - Avoid using only products with astringent properties. Despite the appearance of your skin, it needs moisturizing, too. The best moisturizers are ones that have a non-oily base. - Find skin care products that offer soothing herbs in combination with other active ingredients. Lavender, aloe and chamomile are just a few of the natural ingredients available that can soothe irritated, sensitive skin.

Daily Skin Care Tips

- Washing your face is a good way to eliminate bacteria that can cause infections and worsen acne. However, don`t wash too often and avoid scrubbing, since this can cause excess oil to be secreted by the skin and will tend to irritate it, as well, causing more problems. A good foaming cleanser is a good way to go and can be rinsed gently afterwards. - Try not to rest your chin on your hand and keep fingers away from the face, since this can transfer excess oil and bacteria and cause zits. When you do need to touch your face, wash your hands first. - For very oily skin, blotting papers can be useful. To avoid excessive face washing, just blot away the extra oil. If you don`t have blotting papers, tissues work well, too. - Avoid popping zits. This spreads bacteria and though it can be very tempting to get rid of an obvious blemish this way, you`ll be better off in the long run if you use a topical treatment instead of popping it. - If you wear makeup, never leave it on overnight. It`s important to let the skin breathe and this means washing the makeup off at night. Using a lighter application or makeup that is specially formulated for sensitive skin should help, too. - Long hair also plays an important part in skin care. If your hair hangs in your face, it can transfer even more oil to the skin and tends to cause breakouts wherever it usually hangs. This is often the cause of "backne", hair hanging down the back, even over a tee shirt, can wick a lot of grease into the skin. Tie long hair back and keep it nice and clean to avoid problems.

Not all teens will have skin problems, but it`s a good idea to start early with the right skin care to ensure that if you are prone to problems like acne, they will be minimized. It`s also helpful to know what you can do once pimples and zits start to appear. Using a good quality skin care product that uses natural, organic ingredients will help a lot. It's tough being a teen, but you can ease the transition by taking good care of your skin so it doesn't have the chance to get out of control.

Palmer's Fade Cream Review

Knock-Out Your Acne With a Natural Acne Treatment That Works!

By Tom Mulligan

Acne can be both annoying and embarrassing, but you don't have to just live with it. Even if you have tried ways to get rid of acne in the past without any success, today we wanted to show you how natural acne treatments can clear your skin.

Almost all of those medications you see advertised and filling row upon row of drugstore shelves simply don't work! If they did, you wouldn't come across so many unhappy customers and you probably wouldn't be reading this article.

If one takes a minute to think about, it's really obvious why all these treatments fail to work. They're designed to combat each pimple one at a time instead of treating the cause behind it. To effectively cure acne, one has to target the cause - the actual root of the problem.

Some people get to the point where they try prescription drugs when they don't get any results from the creams or lotions. Unfortunately, prescription drugs don't treat the problem either - they just mask it. Considering there are safe natural treatments available which offer extremely positive results, the risk of drug related side effects is totally unnecessary.

There are various factors which cause acne and in order to achieve an effective cure, one has to treat each of these problems. The main causes of acne are: skin irritations; blocked or obstructed pores, bacteria and of course, excessively oily skin. Eliminate all of these and yes, you will have seen the last of your acne.

Genuine acne treatments nearly always come in the form of a kit - kinda like a "system" that uses a variety of products. Typically, such kits will include a dedicated face wash solution, a moisturizer and a specific spot cream. The effectiveness of these acne systems rely on the concept that each product compliments the nextand they all work together to attack your acne from all angles.

Unfortunately, more than ninety percent of acne treatments on the market today pay little attention to these simple facts. Many manufacturers continue to put profits before results and realize for that to happen, they need their customers to keep buying their products. This means they need to make products that aren't quite good enough to solve the problem.

This much I can guarantee - If you eliminate all the causes of your acne the results will be visible in just a few days. Irrespective of how severe your acne is, it can be cured and cleared up permanently. It's great feeling to have clear skin - you can do it!
