Acne Scars Laser Treatment

By Mary Boline

For people who suffer from acne scars, we tend to daydream or envision that day when we will have smooth skin. While others save for holidays, acne sufferers save for that day when they can be rid of acne scars from a dermatologist. People with acne tend to have a bit of distortion in how others perceive them, because they themselves see their face first thing each morning and can never forget this unsightly version of themselves.

Discovering the right procedure for our skin, one that we can afford, is paramount for those with acne scars. Figuring out the best option is necessary. Finding out that there are financing and payment plans available make the idea of smooth skin a possibility and reality.

Expensive treatments: laser surgery is just that. Skin surgeons removal scar tissue resulting in smoother clearer skin. There is very low probability of future skin scars from acne. The pain involved is quite tolerable from low to medium for most patients. Males tends to have a lower pain threshold then females " which is why females are probably able to imagine going through childbirth more than once even after the experience.

Fractional resurfacing is a laser treatment that results in about 60 percent improvement of acne scars after two or three treatments. There are minimal side effects with this type and is safe to use on other areas of your skin including neck, chest, hands. It is recommended that the treatments be repeated over intervals of three to five weeks, and to also repeat the procedure from 3 to 5 times. Every four weeks for four treatments total seems to be the norm.

Laser fractional resurfacing provides ultimately that smooth skin you have been longing for. If you want wrinkles addressed, you can have those smoothed out as well, or brown spots can be removed.

You will pay a pretty penny for this, but it may well be worth it. Fractural lasering will cost anywhere from 1500.00 per treatment to 2500.00 per treatment. Non-ablative laser treatments, another procedure using lasers, will cost from 300.00 to 1300.00 per treatment.

Is laser skin treatment worth the cost? Discuss the options with your dermatologist and look at the before and after photos. Those in themselves speak wonders for what you are thinking of paying for. Sometimes it just helps to be able to walk into a room and know you are presenting your best face to others, not to mention how wonderful it is to appreciate what you see in the mirror each day.

One thing for those who use Accutane to remember, a dermatologist will likely not use laser surgery for at least six months until you have stopped using that skin treatment.
