Rosacea Treatment Using 3 Methods

By Marybeth Quirk

What skin disorder effects upwards of 50 million people worldwide yet has no known cure? Rosacea. This skin disorder is widespread yet there is no known cure. While it mostly effects women of European descent between the ages of thirty and fifty years old, it can actually manifest in both men and women, black or white people, and effect the young and the old. This article will look at a 3 layered approach towards treating rosacea.

One of the most powerful ways of taking charge of rosacea is learning what your personal triggers are. This means understanding what causes rosacea flareups to happen to you, personally. It can take a lot of trial and error but understanding what will trigger a flareup is essential. Most people who suffer from rosacea find the exposure to heat in various forms will trigger the symptoms. This could be simply from being exposed to direct sunlight for too long, eating spicy foods, drinking hot teas or coffee, taking showers with very hot water, swimming in heated pools or getting in a hot tub, and even working up body heat by high impact exercise. Modifying ones behavior to avoid rosacea triggers might not be the funnest thing, but in the long run, it is one of the most empowering ways of dealing with this skin disorder. Paying attention to the circumstances in which flareups occur is the first step, and from here, it's all trial and error.

The medicinal approach is often the most common one. Dermatology doctors can give you all sorts of medicines to treat rosacea, and recommend high quality over the counter medicine as well. Leveraging the latest medicines to control rosacea is a necessity - however, don't make the mistake of making this your only approach!

With that in mind, let's look at one other area regarding treatment: the use of natural treatments. This usually mean herbs and also lotions and creams which contain no active ingredients. Natural treatments are best regarded as a method of relief and not a method of control. Popular treatments include licorice and lavender applied to the irritated skin for instant relief. Try out a variety of natural treatments and see what works for you.

Without proper treatment, rosacea can take over your life. With proper treatment, it can be controlled and just a part of life, but not the driving force. Medicine, natural treatment, and avoiding triggers are going to go a long way to effective rosacea treatment.
