Acne Prone Skin is normally characterized by dark pimples, whiteheads, blackheads, redness, inflammation and painful irritation. Excessive secretion of sebum blocks the pathway from sebaceous gland towards the surface of the skin. Usually sebum helps in removal of dead cells from hair follicles.

Nature's Treatments for Acne Prone Skin

Garlic has antibiotic effects so it can be used to control bacteria as an acne treatment.

Vitamins A & C are present in tomatoes so tomatoes have anti-oxidant effects. Vitamin C is partly responsible for revitalizing the skin while vitamin A is responsible for maintaining healthy skin.

Always choose medicated and non-comedogenic or oil-free cosmetics.

Never wash your face roughly in an attempt to scrub out your pores.

Off-the-shelf scrubs can irritate the skin so use them carefully or avoid them altogether.

Pimples heal faster if you can avoid trying to squeeze or pop them.

Use medicated cleansers or mild cleansers with either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide and avoid non-medicated face creams.

Repetitive cleansing of excess sebum oil is key factor in controlling acne. In most drugstores, acne sufferers will typically find several skin washes and pore cleansers designed to treat acne. Look for face washes that contain Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% or Salicylic Acid 2% to effectively cleanse your pores and help maintain healthy skin. Both of these medicated substances play a key role in treating acne.
