By Jessa Wright

Though acne scarring is quite common ,in most cases there are ways to help prevent and reduce scarring. The best way to treat acne scarring is to start early and continue for as long as is necessary.

Acne scarring occurs when the visible remnants of acne are permanently left on the skin after the acne itself subsides. The walls of the volcano in eruption get injured and, after the mess is resolved and cleaned, holes or pitted acne scarring are left behind We still do not know why some people get more acne scarring and some people less - the tendency is genetic, but what causes it is unclear.

If Doctors could tell who is most apt to get scarring, they could set up an early treatment, and take a very strong approach to avoiding scarring. For now, acne sufferers can only treat with what is available, and be as diligent as possible.

Thus, the most effective way of managing acne scarring is to prevent its occurrence in the first place. Acne scarring shows many different forms and is explainable by the depth and severity of the inflammation and the ability of the individual to heal these lesions.

Scarring and hyper-pigmentation is not always related to severe forms of acne. It can result from large or small pimples. Not all acne scarring can be avoided, no matter how careful one is.

Do not put off seeing your Dermatologist if you have acne. There may be nothing he can do about the scarring at this time, but he/she needs to follow your situation so he can intervene at the best time.

All bouts of acne and treatments for acne scarring take time, and effort. There is no short-cut or easy road.

Acne scarring can never be totally overcome. It can be greatly improved with treatment that is a multistep procedure. It will take time.
