Top 10 Natural Treatments For Adult Acne

By Emily Patterson

If you have, or know someone who has, adult acne, here are some natural therapies you might want to try to relieve your condition. These natural acne treatments are much easier on your skin than conventional acid washes and creams. You might notice that if you try the natural solution, your skin will be glowing like never before.

Manuka honey can be used instead of a face wash. I actually use it in the shower for my whole body. It is anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean. No, it isn't sticky. Just squirt some in a wash cloth and use just like you would any other liquid soap. Try it one time, and you will be amazed!

For more stubborn acne, try mixing a few drops of tea tree or rosemary essential oil into the Manuka honey you use for your face wash or in place of your shower soap. Both have been proven effective at reducing the bacteria, viruses, yeasts and fungus issues that can be the cause of acne outbreaks. If you just can't get past the idea of using honey as a body or face wash, Thursday Plantation makes a Tea Tree soap that is awesome at controlling acne outbreaks, without drying out your skin.

Warm compresses and steam facials are also highly effective at controlling acne. Heat kills bacteria known to be associated with acne. However, if your acne is caused by yeast, steam and warm compresses can make it worse. Yeast likes a warm, damp environment so pay attention if you choose this solution for your adult acne. If it seems to be getting worse, stick to other methods, such as tea tree or rosemary essential oil which are clinically proven to control acne that is caused by yeast.

Conventional lotions and creams contain a lot of chemicals and alcohol that clinical studies have shown can cause an acne outbreak. You might want to avoid these antagonists and try using coconut oil as a moisturizer. It helps keep the cells from drying out and provides a protective barrier to help your skin repel bacteria and yeast that can cause an outbreak of adult acne. Jojoba is another natural oil that is perfect for controlling acne and keeping your skin moisturized. If you use too much of a natural oil when choosing this method of moisturizer, just wipe off the excess with a clean, dry cloth.

Baking soda is a perfect natural exfoliant to help keep dry skin cells from plugging your pores and leading to an outbreak of adult acne. Just mix with soap or warm water and rub lightly on your skin. Baking soda will gently remove dead skin cells and helps to kill bacteria that can cause adult acne. Your skin will be soft, smooth and glowing after a gentle baking soda scrub.

And my last suggestion is to try a little sunlight to control your adult acne. The UV rays are scientifically proven to kill bacteria and stimulate circulation which helps to control acne and other skin problems. Skin cancer is caused by burning your skin so use some common sense. A little sunlight is not only beneficial for your skin, but also helps create a natural glow that you can't get from a jar.

No matter whether you choose a natural approach or a conventional approach to control your adult acne, I wish you the best of luck!
