How To Treat Acne Scars: The Truth

Acne scars can make even young and health looking skin into skin that looks more like the surface of the moon. If you suffering from scars on your face due to acne that you had when you were a teenager, you should learn how you can help treat the skin and get rid of the acne scars.

If the acne scars are very deep or if you are looking for a quick fix, you may need to see a dermatologist or even a surgeon who does cosmetic procedures. They have effective ways that they can use to treat the problem in a hurry but this is expensive and most insurance companies will not cover the treatments for acne scarring.

For most people, home remedies may be a better option. They are cheaper and have no possibility of dangerous side effects. There are many old wives tales that people claim will work, but most will not. Here are a few that have been shown to have success that you may want to try.

One common method is to crush tomatoes and cucumbers into a paste mixture and then apply it to the scarred area. This should be done twice a day and you should leave the mixture on your skin for at least fifteen minutes.

Another popular method you can use is rubbing lemon or lime juice into the scarred area. This can help to tighten your pores, and that can help reduce the size of the scars and make them less noticeable.

Some people find that making a paste out of sandalwood and rose water is effective for them. This works best if it is allowed to remain overnight.

Remember if you are searching for how to treat acne scars that none of the home remedies are quick fixes. Most take at least three weeks until you see a significant improvement. Choose one you would like to try and stick with it for at least a month. If you see no improvement, then you may want to consider trying something else.
