Home Remedies For Skin Boils
For years people have used garlic and onion compress successfully to treat boils. To make this compress: Use a juicer or garlic presser to extract the juice from 1-3 cloves of garlic. Apply this juice to the head (only) of the boil and cover the boil loosely with a band-Aid. Check the boil frequently until it starts to soften and can be easily removed with a wash cloth and warm water. Be careful as the garlic can burn the skin....so it's important to only apply it to the head of the boil and check it often. If it begins to burn, remove the band-Aid and rinse well.
Another home remedy to try is an onion compress. Press a sliced onion with a knife until you obtain a few drops of onion juice. Apply this juice to the head of the boil and cover loosely with a band-aid. Leave the juice on until the head is soften and can be easily removed with a wash cloth and warm water. For faster results, try combining the juice of onions and garlic and follow the directions listed above. But again, if you skin stings or burns remove immediately and wash and rinse the area.
Ground up turmeric powder is also helpful when treating boils. Simply add a small amount of water to the turmeric powder and blend until you have a paste. Apply this paste to the whole boil and surrounding area and cover with a band-aid. Leave this paste on until the boil becomes soft and can be easily removed with a wash cloth and warm water.
