A Look At Different Body Acne Treatments

By Danny S. Jones

While acne affects the face usually, it may also affect other body parts such as the neck, back, chest, legs and shoulders. The condition is particularly common in kids because of the hormonal changes associated with puberty. These can bring about skin changes including a rise in oil production.

The very basic principle on which acne can be treated is that you have to keep your skin free from extra oil and from dust. For this purpose, you'll need a smallish effort. You'll have to clean your skin with an appropriate, water based skin cleanser. The trick is to keep your skin pores from being clogged. Using an exfoliant would also be very beneficial.

You can treat body acne using diverse topical medications available over-the-counter. Benzoyl peroxide helps dry up oil and kill bacteria. Acetone helps dry out the skin. A mixture of resorcinol and sulfur reduces oil and prevents pores from clogging. Salicylic acid is available in many antiacne shower gels. These gels can be employed like soap and make it easy to apply the medication on your back and legs. Additionally, topical antibiotics,eg erythromycin, clindamycin and tetracycline are available that can be applied immediately to areas with lesions.

You can use oral antibiotics by the prescription of a doctor if topical medicines are unable to treat body acne. Oral antibiotics can be very effective because they are delivered directly below the surface of the skin. They include erythromycin and tetracycline. If you are a woman, you can effectively use oral contraceptives to control body acne.

One important aspect of successful treatment of Body Acne is to follow an overall healthy lifestyle. You must exercise on a regular basis, you have to take care that you do not eat very oily food and that you eat on time. You must also clean your body on a regular basis. is very necessary as it helps strengthen your immunity and cleans out toxins from body.

You should eat at least five plateful of fresh fruit and plants each day. They act as antioxidants and improve the immune system. You should avoid refined sugars and fatty foods as they may harm your skin. You should also drink at least ten glasses of water daily to get rid of poisons from your body.

Instead of using oil based moisturizers, you should clean your skin with a cleaner at least 2 times, every day. Do not ever prick acne as it may cause infection or scars.

Together with all this, you need to understand that body acne is harder to treat in comparison to facial acne. It needs different acne products compared to those working for facial acne. You can't go on to use the same acne products to treat body acne. But, at the same time it is pretty much treatable and , you need not worry about it!
