If you are among the many thousands who know of Green Tea, but do not know any specifics about its goodness, then keep reading, as you will soon find out some surprising specifics!

Green Tea, Oolong Tea and Black Tea, were each derived over 4,000 years ago in China, and they have all been drank on a daily basis ever since to maintain whilst improving general health. However, it is only in recent years that the dietary properties and the effects these teas have on health as a whole have gained universal acknowledgment. Throughout the world, there have been massive amounts of scientific and medical studies completed in an attempt to learn just how significant Green Tea can be to you, and the overall conclusions to date prove that it prolongs and considerably improves vitality and life span.

The core component in Green Tea that has given it its 'miracle tea' superiority are catechin polyphenols, distinctively epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). They are however more commonly known to most of us as antioxidants. What differentiates Green Tea as a nutrition tea from Oolong and Black Tea, is that during production Green Tea leaves are steamed, thus preventing the potent EGCG's from oxidization. However, fermentation is used with Oolong and Black Tea leaves, which converts EGCG's into other compounds. This fact gives Green Tea its prominence over all other teas.

While Green Tea proudly holds 27% catechin polyphenols, it is proven to be 100 times more valuable to you than its contender Vitamin C and 25 times more valuable than Vitamin E! You now have your first thrilling reason to instantly become a Green Tea convert!

Three Main Health Benefits Of Green Tea You Did Not Know, Before Now... 1.EGCG can actually kill cancer cells, at ALL stages of cancer! It does this by inhibiting the growth of tumours, eradicating tumour promoters, blocking chemical carcinogens and neutralizing enzymes that are involved in cell proliferation. 2.These wonderful antioxidants also lower LDL cholesterol levels in the blood, by latching onto the cholesterol globules and preventing them from sticking to the lining of the arteries for example. As well as this, they inhibit formation of blood clots (Thrombosis), which can prevent strokes and heart attacks. 3.Free Radicals, which are produced naturally to some degree in the body, are electrons in an 'unpaired state'. Because of this they can cause damage to cell membranes and internal structures, allowing development of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and can damage DNA. The good news is that, simply put, EGCG (antioxidants) kill Free Radicals!

After soaking up the main benefits above, you may now understand why for over 4,000 years Green Tea has been consumed as a nutrition tea for healing purposes with general well being, in countries throughout the Far East. After learning of how advantageous Green Tea can be to you, you may be prone to assuming that it will fail to bring a desired aroma, however differing from this, it actually delivers an exceptional zest and is wonderfully light and invigorating as compared with standard coffees and teas!

Common Acne Scarring Treatments

By Kim Hartley

There are different treatments for acne scars. The most common scar treatments are dermabrasion, laser resurfacing, chemical peels, punch techniques, subcision and augmentation. Each treatment is used for certain types of scars, so a thorough examination by a highly qualified and experienced dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon will help determine the procedure or combination of procedures that is right for you.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion came about from the laser craze in the mid 90's. It's the oldest of all resurfacing methods, and many dermatologists got rid of their traditional methods to make way for the technology.

Removing layers of skin with an abrasive, rapidly rotating wheel, takes a skilled hand to achieve the best results. Used unskillfully, it can create an unnatural contoured skin surface that has an uneven appearance.

Laser Resurfacing

A common method for acne scarring is laser resurfacing. It uses a laser beam to pass through a chamber filled with carbon dioxide gas, or with Erbium, the crystal through which the beam passes. Experts regard this treatment with the carbon dioxide laser as a high standard to resurface the skin.

Chemical Peels

Containing higher concentrations of salicylic acid, approximately 20-30 percent, than the products more commonly used by consumers, which is usually, 0.5-2 percent, these higher concentrated peels will unclog pores, clear acne and even improve the look of brown spots.

Punch Techniques

This next common method, punch excision, is often used for scars referred to as ice pick scars. Using a biopsy punch instrument, the scar is punched out of the skin. Although this will leave a small cylinder type hole, it can be filled with a punch graft, a piece of skin taken from behind the patients ear, or is closed with small sutures. This will depend on it's size and location.

Subcision

For large, nondistensible scars, some doctors use a method call subcision, inserting a beveled needle under the scar and moving it back and forth to cut the fibrous strands of collagen that are holding it down. This can be useful for some scars, but there are trade-offs. You get a fair amount of bruising and discoloration with subcision, which can take a long time to heal.

In your search for an acne scar treatment that's right for you, know that there are other options available. Perhaps you're looking for a quicker, less invasive method, without paying for costly procedures, or expensive visits to the salon or doctor's office.

Tips for Removing Blackheads - Do You Want to Get Rid of Your Blackheads?

By Garyl Hany

Blackheads are categorized as the least severe acne lesion however they are sometimes a menace on the face and are difficult to treat. In some people, blackheads can be ignored because they will disappear after a period of time. On the other hand, these blackheads can be persistent and require outside force to disappear.

As more people become too conscious about their looks, more skin care products for blackheads are sold in grocery stores, beauty shops and even pharmacies. However, using these products without sufficient knowledge can harm further the skin.

Typically, blackheads appear on the nose area and clogged the pores horribly. The nose is the perfect spot for blackheads to develop because it has sufficient amount of oil. The roots of the blackheads are buried deep within the skin pores hence forcing the blackheads out can become very painful.

Forcing the blackheads out is not only painful but also ineffective. Forceful squeezing gives only temporary relief. Further, it can cause more future outbreaks making the blackheads more difficult to remove.

As of now, the proper way of removing blackheads is by treating it the same way as to treat acne properly. In other words, treating blackheads require enough knowledge about the root causes of the blackheads.

Some of the causes of blackheads are stress and anxiety. Blackheads can be eradicated if the stress and anxiety level is reduced. For best results, use stress reduction technique or consume anti-depressant.

Change in lifestyle can also help treat blackheads. However, this is not always effective and thus people resort to acne treatment instead. Acne treatments are available in wide variety: topical, herbal and medications. The disadvantage of acne treatments is they can cause side effects to certain individuals.

The last tip is to remove outbreak using a washcloth. If the causes are not determined, this is one of the best alternatives. Place a warm washcloth on the area with blackheads and stroke it lightly until the blackheads are removed. Hopefully, these tips will be able to help you deal with your blackheads.

Causes of Acne - What are they?

By Allan Johns

Acne is an unpleasant skin condition and for most sufferers. The main cause of acne is a change of hormones within the body when a person reaches puberty.

Occurring in about 80% of adolescents, acne most often affects the face, neck, back and chest. The cause of acne is the surge in the production of hormones called androgens, which are the culprits behind the overstimulation of sebum from the sebaceous (oil) producing glands.

The main purpose of sebum is to maintain the suppleness of the skin, but where it occurs in over abundance, it creates more problems than it solves and is the underlying cause of acne.

Bacteria forms on the surface of the skin when the skins own oil, combined with dead skin cells, blocks pores providing a breeding ground for bacteria. This then becomes a cause of acne and spots appear due to the multiplying of the bacteria inside the blocked pore.

Unfortunately, many products intended to help keep skin healthy can actually become a cause of acne. This is because certain ingredients are too harsh for our skin and result in the sebaceous glands producing even more oil.

Besides androgens, there are other hormones that have been found to be a cause of acne. Cortisol is produced at higher levels when humans are affected by stress and it has been scientifically proven to aggravate acne.

Specialists studying acne have discovered that there is a genetic link. If acne affects members of your gene sharing family, then you are unfortunately more likely to become a sufferer yourself.

Steroids and oral contraceptives, both prescribed drugs, have been found to be a cause of acne in some people. However, due to their varying ingredients, some types of oral contraceptives are often prescribed as an effective treatment for acne and sufferers of some other skin problems.

Androgens are perhaps the most common cause of acne and the sufferers of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) have extremely high levels of androgens as it is one of the symptoms of the condition. Therefore, PCOS sufferers are highly likely to develop skin problems and acne.

Severe scarring is often caused by acne, leaving the sufferer with unpleasant marks on their skin that often remain for life. However, the chances of scarring can be greatly reduced if the urge to pick and squeeze spots is resisted as these actions can cause the infection to travel deeper into the skin tissue, causing extensive damage.

Unfortunately, in some individuals, severe inflammatory acne with large cysts develops beneath the skin's surface. Even if left alone, these cysts can rupture causing the infection to spread and usually result in scars.

Poor diet and poor hygiene though often cited are not the root cause of acne, although it is obvious that if a person fails to regularly wash their skin and remove all traces of make-up, problems with their skin will occur.

How to Treat Acne Successfully

By Rose Williams

Acne is ghastly. However, it's not something that cannot be dealt with. There are loads of acne skin care products around. We can classify acne skin care products into 3 broad categories -

* Deterrent or general acne skin care items; * Over-the-counter, specialised acne skin care products; * Prescription only acne skin care items.

The general acne skin care products are the ones that are used as an acne-prevention measure. These include cleansers, make-up removers and similar items that help prevent acne. In the real sense, these acne skin care products are those that should be part of your daily routine anyway. However, some of these are more orientated to act like an acne skin care product.

These acne skin care items work against the reasons for acne e.g. limiting the production of sebum/oil and preventing the clogging of skin pores. Essentially, these acne skin care products inhibit the oil from becoming blocked in pores and consequently hamper the growth of the bacteria that lead to acne. Broad-spectrum acne skin care items also include exfoliation products like skin peels. These work by removing dead skin cells, hence reducing the likelihood of pore-clogging and bacteria development.

Then there are specialised acne skin care products that are available over-the-counter i.e. without the requirement of a prescription. These include products like vanishing creams which remove the extra oil from the skin. Most of these acne skin care items are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacteria (and therefore acne). You should start with a product that has a lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide (e.g. 5%) and see how your skin reacts to it.

Alpha-hydroxy-acid based moisturizers are also common as acne skin care items. You may have to test a few, before you find the acne skin care product that is most effective for you. If nothing seems to work, you should contact a skincare specialist.

Prescription-only acne skin care products are the ones that are prescribed by a dermatologist. These include ointments that can be rubbed on the affected area or oral antibiotics or just any topical medication. Dermatologists might also recommend a minor surgical procedure to remove the contents of pustules. However, never try to squeeze or do this by yourself, it can lead to the everlasting damage of your skin.

Your doctor could also prescribe a hormone-based treatment (since hormonal changes are also known to cause acne). Such acne skin care items are known to be very effective in some cases. So, with all those acne skin care items, combatting acne is really not all that arduous.

Males generally have more severe forms of acne and more serious acne scars. The male hormones, or androgens, are the culprits behind this skin condition and young men suffer the most. Ironically though, women have more trouble with chronic acne and pimples in their adult years. Women have the unique hormonal shifts from taking birth control pills, menstrual cycles, pregnancies and menopause, which can cause skin eruptions at these times.

Acne seems to be on the rise today and experts do not know exactly why. Many doctors believe stress and environmental factors such as hormones and antibiotics added to our foods, chemicals in our environment, diets high in sugar and low on nutrients are contributing to the increase.

What can you do about adult acne?

Even though there is no actual "cure" for acne, there are many over the counter and prescription medications that can bring this skin problem under control. Today new laser technologies also show promise, particularly in chronic and severe cases of acne. The best approach is to control acne as soon as it is a problem and prevent scars, but today there are lasers that can greatly improve the appearance of acne scars...even old ones. I Have To Treat My Acne

By Barry Elmwood

Chances are you suffered through the angst of acne as a teenager. It's just a natural physiological thing - your body is changing, your hormones are on full blast, and your poor skin can't keep up. That's small comfort when you have to look in the mirror at a pepperoni pizza face, but it is what it is. And finding the right acne care treatment can make it much easier to bear.

The first thing to understand about acne care treatment is that there is no silver bullet that can cure your skin without any other effort. You can go to dermatologists, spend money on expensive creams, subscribe to the latest medical trends that Oprah pimps, and it won't matter - you'll still need acne care treatment because no one thing is the answer to all of your woes.

So the important step is to approach your acne care treatment holisitically. Start, then, by analyzing your diet. Many nutritionists and doctors have long said that your diet can be directly reflected in your outward appearance. This most often occurs in the form of obesity, a rising epidemic in the united states. But your diet can also show up on your face, for lack of a better way of putting it.

Stated simply, humans have evolved to eat stuff that grows in the ground. We're meant to eat fruits, vegetables and grains much more than we're meant to eat meat and dairy. And we're meant to eat meat and dairy much more than we're meant to eat stuff that's pre-packaged, processed and of negligible nutritional value. If you can buy a food product, put it on your shelf for six days and it won't go bad, it's not actually a food product. That's the first thing to realize, because those preservatives in that packaged food are stuff that your body has to process. And your body's not yet evolved to process stuff like that, so it takes a toll on your appearance.

So your acne care treatment begins by eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grains like brown rice, quinoa and the like. Nuts and berries work as well, since, again, these are things that we're evolved to eat and digest properly. Once you take care of your body's insides, the outsides will start to show it.

Another step is to get constant exercise. And no, walking to the bathroom between innings or at halftime does not count as exercise. You need to get yourself to do cardiovascular work four to five times a week for at least twenty minutes a day. This will strengthen your internal organs, allowing your liver and kidneys to process more junk chemicals and keeping oils off your face.

Acne Information

By Conrad Hanner

As a teenager suffering from acne, don't fret about it too much. When you turn twenty, your acne should begin to fade. If they are not all gone by the time you turn thirty, you should take it very seriously. It perhaps means that you are one of those people who might have to endure it till well into middle age. The doctor might not cure it, but they could sure try; at least you could look presentable again.

There are myriads of acne creams and lotions used by various people to attempt to cure acne, with various levels of success. Some are dependent on the reaction of the patient to the medication or process, while others are simply dependent on the actual effectiveness of the acne cream or lotion. You may not just use any that you wish to, only that which will not react adversely to your system.

Acne rosacea is not a common form of the skin infection, but a good number of folks suffer from it across the globe. In this condition, the capillaries in your cheeks, forehead, and in the region around your nose become swollen with blood such that the oil glands in the skin of that part of your body also become infected. As you might guess, it is not very easy to treat, but you may well seek out as much help as you can get from any professional around you.

In certain instances, an arbitrary doctor might suggest that if you watched what you ate and drank you might be able to control the rate or extent to which you suffered from acne. Whereas that is true, it is not always so. In the case of an outbreak of the condition all over your face, neck and arms, it cannot be prevented by a controlled diet. As a matter of fact, the best thing you can do for yourself at this time would be to see a genuine professional.

There are various kinds of people with various skin types all over the world, and indeed the whole of the United States as well. When they all suffer from acne, it makes reason to suppose that it was not exactly caused by the same circumstances; rather different things may have triggered the outbreak. In the interest of avoiding further complications, you will do well to find out your skin type before you embark on any type of acne medication.

Some people like to apply various creams and lotions to their faces and areas of their body where acne appears. For others, it is the application of some of those very weird natural mixtures that you come across from time to time. What can I say? Different strokes; different folks. The important thing is to know which form of the condition you suffer from, and why. Once that is settled, you know you are on the right track.

Kids and adults both can suffer from acne and therefore both do suffer from discrimination too. However, the skin disease does appear to have a particular affinity for females. As they enter into their puberty, ladies often develop the condition and stay that way until they are a lot more mature. It makes sense to conclude that it is the hormonal changes that occur in their bodies during this time that causes it, and I'm certain that you will agree with me.

Everywhere you turn in the United States today, you are bound to find more than a few people who suffer from acne vulgaris. This is the clinical name of the condition; most folks simply refer to it on the streets as acne, or freckles, or other such terms I'm sure you have heard from time to time. People who suffer the most from acne are little ones who are just coming of mature age, but occasionally it does spread to a few outliers.

These tanning booths are quite similar in design to the tanning booths which are very popular in commercial tanning salons. As with tanning beds, there are many brands of tanning booths on the market for both commercial and domestic tanning bed equipment. So, you will need to investigate into these different tanning booth systems meticulously in order to find one that suits you and your budget. There are nevertheless a few notes of caution that you should bear in mind when selecting your tanning booth.

When you are using tanning booths, you will discern that these booths use very high temperature ultra violet bulbs to rapidly bring about the alterations your skin will have to go through in a tanning session in order to become bronzed. Just as when using tanning beds, you will need to use some protective eye glasses when inside the tanning booths. These goggles will shield your eyes from getting hurt by the powerful, but injurious ultra violet rays.

However, if these ultra violet rays are quite so hazardous, why do people desire to subject themselves to such protracted periods in tanning booths? Well, the response is really quite simple, it is just because of the fact that people want to have a striking, golden coloured skin. Another fact is that, since there is so much dreadful news in the papers about the hazards of sun tanning, it is easy to understand why some people choose to try the sunless tanning route instead.

Which is where tanning booths, among other products, come into their own. However, having mentioned a few details and dangers, if you are still thinking about getting a sunless tan then you may be interested in reading the benefits of using a tanning booth. The first benefit is that you can get a tan whenever you want. The second benefit is that the tanning booths take up less space than tanning beds as they stand in a vertical attitude.

However, before you go out and purchase a tanning booth, it is a good idea if you read what other people have had to say about the items. If you still believe that tanning booths hold the solution to your prayers, then there is a broad choice of tanning booths for you to look at.

Once you get your tanning booth set up in a spare room, you will never look back. The ease of use and being able to fit your tanning sessions in whatsoever time of the day or night you like is of immense advantage.

While a boost of confidence can result from obtaining clear skin, the inner fear that the problem will return lingers in the back of ones mind. For some a case of over confidence could be a symptom of the deep emotional wounds of dealing with acne for extensive periods of time. For others even though they have been freed from acne the shyness and insecurity remains part their behavior.

Perhaps it might sound like a farfetched idea to practice self forgiveness to one self. The Best Acne Rosacea Treatments

By Kim Hartley

With rosacea your concerns are most likely redness and oiliness. Also, you might experience broken blood vessels on your face. You need to find products that will reduce redness and acne and at the same time be non-irritating. Avoid products for sensitive skin, as they can be irritating because they are really made for people that have dry skin.

There are skin care regimens you can follow daily, regardless if you have rosacea that's active, acne, or just redness of the face.

When looking for products for your daily skin regimen, they should prevent and treat the following symptoms:

Redness Wrinkles Blemishes

Also your skin care regimen should help you to prevent:

Non-melanoma skin cancer Your skin from being fragile

Products that contain an anti-inflammatory and antioxidants can be helpful to sustain various symptoms which are typically caused by inflammation.

For the treatment of acne rosacea, try the following skincare regimen:

In the morning:

Cleanse with benzoyl peroxide Use a spot treatment to blemishes Use a moisturizer (if you choose to) Use a foundation with a built-in SPF

In the evening:

Cleanse with benzoyl peroxide Use an anti-inflammatory moisturizer Use a retinol product

By using an anti-inflammatory cleanser every morning and evening, it will help your acne by lessening the oil on the surface of your skin. Products that contain salicylic acid are a good choice. If your skin is only a little bit oily, you can use a moisturizer with anti-inflammatory ingredients. For highly shinny skin, you may want to skip that step.

At night, with a gentle cleanser, remove your makeup. Using an anti-inflammatory light serum, lotion, gel, or mask at night will also be helpful.

A very common topical treatment for acne is benzoyl peroxide. Although this product may cause stinging, burning, and redness for sensitive skin, it really does work. These reactions to benzoyl peroxide don't happen to everyone with sensitive skin, and most people with acne will benefit by using it. Possibly combining an anti-inflammatory product with the benzoyl peroxide will help to alleviate the side effects because it will lower the concentration.

Skin Whitening With Alpha - Arbutin

By Kelly Weiren

Skin whitening need not be expensive, thanks to over-the-counter alternatives to hydroquinone and d-kojic acid such as Alpha - Arbutin, which also helps lessen dark spots and lighten skin. Alpha - Arbutin can lessen skin darkening by preventing the production of the enzyme called tyrosinase, which leads to melanin production. In two to three months, you can start seeing the benefits of Alpha-Arbutin.

Effectiveness

What makes this compound different from other lightening medications is the fact that it is made of all natural plant extracts even when it is classified as a synthetic compound. Alpha-Arbutin comes form plant sources such as duckweed and bearberry. The latter is an evergreen bush local to the mountainous regions of the Northern Hemisphere while the former is a weed that is mostly found in Canada.

The product comes in a white powder form that can be dissolved in water. It can withstand pH ranges of 3.6-6.5. When Alpha Arbutin is used in lotion form, a one-percent concentration of this compound can cause a faster rate of lightening with an even lighter skin tone as compared to other similar products. The compound works by blocking the biosynthesis of epidermal melanin which then results in the lighter skin tone.

Commercial products containing Alpha Arbutin are abundant in the market, practically aiming to lighten skin and reduce certain skin impurities such as brown age spots and erythema. These products include creams, serums and lotions in the form of whitening creams, "fade away" creams, body lotions, body bleaching lotions, and other whitening and impurity-reduction products.

Safety

Don't worry when using other skin lightening options with different ingredients, as their compatibility with the compounds of Alpha - Arbutin is not an issue. But scientifically, it is useless to combine products that provide similar results. In fact, there are substances that when used in combination may prevent one another from being absorbed by the skin.

Compared to hydroquinone, Alpha - Arbutin does not pose any danger to your skin because of how it works: It does not kill the cells that are responsible for producing melanin. This benefit makes it safer to use. It is definitely a better alternative to hydroquinone, which is already banned in some European and South African countries due to its potentially long-term and lethal effects.

Bad Skin Solutions : Home Remedies For Acne

By Megan Keenan

There exist a good number of popular acne treatment products on the market but most of them are either ineffective, too expensive or too chemically harsh on the body. They also often end up creating potentially damaging side effects.

Natural home remedies for acne, on the other hand, are able to provide stable results over time while costing next to nothing and are easily taken in by the body (thus incorporating little risks for damaging side effects). Here are a few simple home remedies that can be easily tried and experienced with by anyone suffering from acne.

Body Nourishment Trough Flaxseeds : Seeds from the flax plant are packed with essential fatty acids that are needed by the body in order to function well. If it does not get enough of these good fats the body will set off the sebaceous glands to expand their production of sebum (or oil). The problem with this is that it can clog up the pores of the skin and make it acne-prone. This kind of imbalance is unfortunately common due to modern diets.

Flaxseeds are one of the best sources of these essential fatty acids and the good news is that they are easily obtainable and inexpensive. Grind them and keep them raw to make it possible for the body to put them to good use.

Cleanse Your Blood With Dandelion Roots : Optimal health conditions and clean blood will reduce the risks of getting acne. Achieving healthy skin is not something that can happen easily if your body is not healthy and your blood full of toxins. Your liver works hard to purify your blood and you can give it an extra boost by drinking a decoction of dandelion roots 2 to 3 times every day. Simply boil the roots at low temperature for 7 or 8 minutes before letting the blend cool down and drinking it. This is a cure that you can perform for 21 days every few months. Eat as healthily as possible during this time to achieve maximum benefits.

Remove Impurities With Clay : Clay is commonly found in the soil over most of the globe. As it is mixed with small amounts of water it transforms into a paste which can then be applied on the face or other body parts as a mask. Let it dry out entirely before rinsing it lavishly. Because it can dry out the skin somewhat it may be a good idea to apply aloe vera gel on the same area after you execute this treatment.

It is best to be using white clay on the face and green clay for other less sensitive body parts. Clay masks should not be applied more than once or twice every week. It is a treatment that will draw toxins and excessive oil out of the skin and nourish it with a multitude of nutrients.

Destroy Bacteria With Tea Tree Oil : Tea Tree Oil is probably one of the most helpful and widely used home remedy when it comes to treating infections and various skin disorders. This is due to it being a powerful antibacterial substance. To use it safely on acne pimples and lesions, you need to dilute the tea tree oil with another oil (go for olive) or you can also put a few drops of it in a neutral gel or cream. The relief it provides is relatively quick and can make a big difference when acne becomes a little bit too intense.

These home remedies for acne are able to provide satisfying results for many people in the long run - particularly when they are being integrated to healthy lifestyles. They will not work so well with anyone maintaining poor health habits and equally poor diets. Because they are much more gentle than pharmaceutical products, these remedies will also work best as they are used for at least a few consecutive months.

Top Ways To Stop Acne Breakouts And Scarring

By Hari Merson

We all know how embarrassing acne can be, especially when you're young and image is everything, but I bet you didn't know that acne is nearly as common in adults as it is in children! No matter what your age, the main problem facing people with acne is the worry of scarring, nobody wants to be covered in scars, especially when some of them can be permanent, but they can be prevented. Acne is easily treated if you begin preventative methods as soon as a breakout appears.

Most acne can be easily prevented by keeping your skin healthy; an easy way to do this is to keep hydrated. Drinking the recommended 2 litres of water a day can help to moisturize your skin, preventing it from drying out and producing oil which in turn causes pimples. If you have already had a breakout of acne then ice can help to control it. Pressing wrapped ice onto your acne for around 10 minutes can help reduce swelling and put a stop to future breakouts.

Zinc and Vitamin C are both important in preventing pimples from appearing, eating food that is rich in these minerals such as meat, beans and fruit can strengthen your skin and protect it from acne damage. It is also important to minimize your caffeine intake, although we all like a cup of coffee or tea every now and then it does dry out the skin, causing pimples and can act as a stimulant to the oils that cause pimples. It's best to avoid caffeine altogether when having trouble with acne and staying off it until you are sure the acne is cleared.

Most people have a daily ritual which includes caffeine, but when you have acne it is a bad idea. Caffeine dries out your skin, and can cause pimples the same way as if you are dehydrated. It also acts as a stimulant for the oil which causes acne, making your skin produce far more of it.

The state of your pores makes a huge difference to your acne problems, be sure to remove all make-up before sleep to stop it clogging your pores, and exfoliate your skin once a week to remove the dead skin cells that block pores and can lead to spots.

To prevent permanent acne scars it is essential to use acne medication as soon as the breakout begins. It can be tempting, but it's important not to pick or squeeze the pimples, especially the more painful pus filled acne lesions. Picking at them can cause deep and permanent scars and spread the infection, making more pimples appear.

The most important thing when dealing with acne is to treat it early on, as soon as it appears so it can heal properly and quickly, and reduce the risk of scarring. As soon as the first breakout appears you should start using preventative methods and if need be go to the doctor, who can help by providing more effective, stronger medication.

Best Treatment For Adult Acne

By Linda Robison

Acne! Now at this age? It's not fair! You finally got over those awkward adolescent years and thought you were done with the breakouts - only to find you now suffer from wrinkles and adult acne. Well, you're not alone.

Did you know that up to 50% adult women suffer from acne and over 25% of all males experience adult male acne? And, up to 1/3 of those adults also experience body acne. So, it's easy to see why there are so many adult acne home remedies and adult acne treatments on the market.

Research from the International Journal of Cosmetic Science shows that is there a rise in adult acne and the acne symptoms lasts longer which means the required treatment for adult acne lasts well into the late adulthood - mid forties.

Obviously, this is very distressful for middle aged adults who are not only dealing with acne but wrinkles too! That is why your adult acne treatment needs to be strong but not too aggravate or dry out aging skin that is starting to show signs of lines, wrinkles, and age spots.

Adult Acne Causes

While we're not completely sure of the reasons why some adults suffer from acne and others don't, there is some speculation that it's connected to the hormone androgen which is present in both men and women.

When our hormones become unbalanced and there is excess androgen, a surplus of oil is created which causes bacteria to grow - leading to pimples and breakouts. Some women have found that birth control is an effective hormonal acne treatment because it lowers the hormone androgen.

Other possible adult acne causes include:
- Diet
- Stress
- Toxic, congested liver

Best Treatment for Adult Acne

There are thousands of products that claim to be "adult acne cures", but in my experience of evaluating adult acne treatments there really isn't a "Cure". However, there is a simple and natural Herbal Adult Acne treatment that makes sense, heals the skin, is very gentle, and treats the symptoms from the inside as well as the outside. Which is probably why it's more effective than just your typical acne product.

I realized that when acne suffers use a combination gentle wash and topical treatment which contains a mild 2% salicylic acid (which is great for wrinkles too!!) along with Medowsweet and Spirae Ulmaria Extract it helps reduce infection, breakouts, redness, and heals the skin.

In addition to this, take a daily Chinese herbal supplement that contains specific herbs for healthy skin... like Neem, Chaste Tree, Dandelion, Milk Thistle, Honeysuckle, and more........ the acne sufferers get better and faster results. And they won't have damage their already aging skin with overly harsh chemicals. Learn more about adult acne treatments and Chinese herbs here.

All About Acne Scars

By Matt Cotton

Many people find that they are left with a reminder of acne for the rest of their lives in the form of scars. While there are methods of getting rid of scars on both the back and face they are quite expensive and it is best to avoid getting scar altogether if at all possible.

In short, acne scars are caused when the bacteria in the pores causes a swelling. As the body tries to heal this wound there is often some scar tissue that remains behind and this is what causes the scars to stay around.

The reason that acne scars form is of course because of acne so the quicker you can get rid of acne the better.

For example some people try and get rid of acne by washing their face excessively. While personal hygiene is important you also need to make sure that you don't dry out the skin or irritate it which can cause acne to be much worse.

The best thing you can do to avoid acne and hence avoid acne scars is to visit your dermatologist. He or she will be able to give you the best possible advice for your exact condition which is much better than any other information you could find.

For example laser acne scar treatment is a popular but expensive method of getting rid of scars and can be very effective on certain types. You should check whether you are a candidate for this kind of treatment.

Clinique Even Better Skin Tone Corrector: A Review

By Kelly Weiren

The Even Better Skin Tone Corrector of Clinique is in serum form and it is meant to undo or reduce age spots, acne scarring, sun damage, and other skin impurities that are attributed to pigmentation. According to many users who have tried it, they are able to achieve the best results. However, some people who used it saw no visible changes.

Why it did not work

Basically, the serum corrects certain skin impurities on the different parts of the body like the chest, hands, and face with a skin care regimen that consists of 3 steps. There are claims that product's benefits are permanent but there are still users who are doubtful because the visible results are lacking. Furthermore, the product label says that it should be used continuously for four to six weeks to get the best results. Unfortunately, the waiting period sounds too long for some users.

Even if there are a lot of users that confirm the product's effectiveness, information regarding its components and formulation is minimal, making it seem harmful. Additionally, there is very little information on how it really works, not counting the claims stating that it can visibly reduce impurities of the skin.

Hefty price tag

The product is also significantly more expensive than other skin lightening products. In fact the $60 price tag for a small 30ml bottle can be a bit over the top for a lot of people. Users are surprised at the exorbitant expense which is still topped by the additional skin care products such as sun screens and moisturizers that have to be used along with it. And these products, all under the same brand are not cheap either.

Despite the product's claims of compatibility to almost all skin types, occasional users still say that effects are minimal to nothing, while others say that aside from the long wait for the product to take effect, skin impurities recur.

Vague list of ingredients

It's also difficult to compare this product to other skin lightening treatments because little is known about it. There is limited information on what the product really contains apart from Vitamin C, glucosamine, Vitamin E and fermented mushroom extract.

Efficient and Natural Acne Treatment

By Jane Honda

People are often tricked into the notion that acne is "incurable", but that is simply not true. The truth is, acne cleansers and other medications only treat acne on the surface. Think about it; there are so many different types of acne, how could one treatment magically take care of all the types? Plus, have you ever had an acne treatment that caused your acne to disappear forever? If you're reading this, I'm guessing you have not. The truth is, acne is not something that can be solved with a simple face wash or cleanser. Acne is caused by something deeper.

There is the misconception that acne only occurs in teenagers, whereas it can occur for people even into their forties. Many people have a tendency to squeeze blackheads and whiteheads in an effort to get rid of them. This is not considered one of the most effective acne natural treatments, as harmful bacteria can then get into the lesion left and cause infection. Approximately 40% of teenagers require the professional treatment and prescription of a doctor to treat their acne break outs.

Keeping the skin clean is an important part in the acne treatment. Cleaning the skin with lemon is an effective acne treatment. Lemon is used for several purposes mainly due to the presence of citric acid. The citric acid has several essential properties required to kill the harmful bacteria. Rub lemon on your skin before going to sleep and you will find a clear skin in the morning. Similarly, you can get rid of acne scars by applying tomato slice. Applying garlic on the spots is another effective homemade acne treatment. Mint juice also can remove skin lesions and scars.

There is not a best acne treatment for everybody, each individual is unique and there are different acne treatments for different people with different skin types and metabolic functions. It is important to consult a good dermatologist before applying an over the market bought acne treatment product, because a dermatologist always have better experience and knows better than you what acne treatment or what combination of acne treatments to prescript. Helping people to heal acne more efficiently is the job of a skin doctor, and he always will be more experienced than you or your acquaintances in the field, so you must listen to his advice.

Conventional acne treatments like benzoyl peroxide and antibiotics have side effects and don't treat the root cause of acne at all. Conventional creams can leave our skin red, peeling, and over dry. It's like a whole other skin problem on top of the acne, our skin can even look worse. That's not the way to go. Antibiotics are dangerous because they can compromise our immune and digestive systems. A safer and healthier alternative is to try a probiotic like those found in yogurt. A good probiotic is often found at health food stores or newer grocery stores, these work with our bodies and not against them.

Vitamins help in skin disease and that is why, homemade mashed fruit facial masks and scrubs do very well as they contain plenty of vitamins in good quantities. However, different facial packs should be prepared for different types of the skin and many times different types of vitamins are used for different type of acne conditions. Overall, if vitamins are taken in proper quantity and on regular basis they can surely help in skin diseased condition including the acne.

Thinking About A Chemical Peel?

By Tracy Jessen

Have you been considering having a chemical peel done? If so there are some things you should be aware of before you go forward with the procedure. If you are having the peel done in a dermatologists office then you will probably have too sit through a consultation to help the doctor decide if a chemical peel will be a good choice for you. If, however, you are considering the purchase of an at home chemical peel kit you will need to make this determination by yourself.

The Chemical Peel Explained

The first thing you should understand is how a chemical peel works. First a chemical substance, usually in the forma of a cream or lotion, is applied to the skin and left in place for a period of time. While the chemicals are in contact with the skin they work to loosen the old skin cells and impurities in the pores so that when the chemical solution is removed from the skin it takes with it the dirt, oils and dead skin.

The chemical peel process actually removes the outermost layer of skin while it also removes all of the natural oils along with all of the contaminates from the pores. The depth of a chemical peel is determined by what concentration level the acid solution contains as well as how long it is left on the skin. The higher the concentration, the deeper the peel. The longer the treatment lasts, the deeper the peel as well.

Things To Consider

One of the most important considerations to take into account is your skins natural sensitivity. If you find your skin to be prone to rashes or other irritations easily, then a chemical peel may not be for you because the chemical peel is going to make these problems worse, at least for several days until your skin has fully healed from the procedure.

Will you be able to stay indoors for a few days after your chemical peel? It is very important that you not go outside, especially during the daytime, for a few days after a chemical peel procedure because the skin has been stripped of its natural protection from the elements until it as a chance to replenish and heal. Dont think that it will be fine to go out as long as you stay in the shade because your skin is also not protected from all the dirt and chemicals in the air that you cant see.

After The Peel

After the procedure you should refrain from any outdoor activity for a couple of days. If you absolutely must go outside be sure to wear a liberal amount of sun block (not sun screen, sun block) to protect your skin. You should just make a concerted effort to not do anything that is going to irritate your skin like wearing makeup or using face creams or exfoliates. Try to even avoid touching your skin for the first day or two because the oil and dirt on your fingers could irritate the skin.

The best way to decide if you should have a chemical peel is always to consult with a qualified doctor but if you find that this isnt an option, you need to be sure to do plenty of research on the topic. If you take your time and study the topic you should be able to safely decide if you are a candidate for a chemical peel procedure.

Common Acne Myths

By Rachel Head

Because acne is such a common problem that affects many people worldwide there are a huge number of myths about it. You may be surprised that some of the things you thought were facts about acne are actually not true! In this article I'll go through some of the more common acne myths so you have a better idea of what really works for acne.

First of all we start with the most common acne myth - that it is caused by eating chocolate. Of course, eating chocolate isn't a good idea for your general health but there is no proof that it causes acne!

Some people do find that their acne becomes worse when they eat a certain food so keep an eye out for patterns to see whether there is anything in your diet that is causing it.

The next one is that getting a good tan can help stop you getting bad acne. This is simply not true and is actually quite easy to spot as a myth if you think carefully about it. Having a tan may reduce the appearance of acne because the spots show up less on darker skin, but that doesn't mean that they are not there are it won't make acne go away.

In fact, if you get a tan it may cause you to get irritated skin which can cause you to have more acne in the future as well as other problems such as skin cancer of course. Also, acne isn't caused by not washing your skin. It isn't caused by dirt on the skin so you shouldn't think that washing your skin more will get rid of spots. In fact, if you wash your skin too much you may cause irritation of the skin and hence more breakouts. Don't scrub too hard or you could cause many more problems than you had originally.

Many acne remedies work by claiming to clean your skin better than other products. The problem is, acne isn't caused by unclean skin so it won't help at all in most cases! While you should clean your face once a day, overdoing it can actually make your skin dry, irritable and more likely to have acne outbreaks.

How to Get Rid of Acne Scars

By Julie M. Jackson

Just about anyone that has ever had to struggle with acne knows all about the struggle with the ugly side effect that almost always follows...acne scars. Just when you think you've won the battle with acne, you realize that was only half the battle.

The scars left by acne often cause frustration in people because they usually don't have any idea when the marks will fade. The skin has a groovy way of smoothing itself out over time through shedding, but for most people this process takes a little too long when it comes to acne scars. Typically, the next step after healing your acne is getting your hands on a cure for the leftover blemishes.

Most acne scarring is caused by white blood cells creating scar tissue after the acne blemish itself has faded away. Over the years, quite a few technologies have emerged to help fight the battle against acne scars, but for the most part these methods have been expensive, laborious, or ineffective.

One of the most infamous methods for dealing with acne scars is an expensive and painful surgery called dermabrasion. Getting this surgery can be compared to having a machine sand down your face with harsh sandpaper. Ouch. Dermabrasion is by no means a permanent cure for acne scarring, either; in fact, some patients are disappointed to find that their acne scars actually return rather quickly after their next bad break out.

There are quite a few ointments and medicines that claim to relieve acne scarring, but from my experience they are almost all a waste of money. Imagine spending tens or even hundreds of dollars for small little tubse of cream that you have to apply every day for months on end, only to find out that they don't work -- that's not a very appealing scenario, is it?

However, there is one modern method that is reliable, safe, and relatively inexpensive. What's more is that it can be done from the comfort of one's own home. This method is known as "skin peeling", and what it does is it speeds up the natural process of your body shedding its old skin. I'm sure you can imagine how quickly you could get rid of your acne scars using this method, and that's why it's one of the most commonly used methods for dealing with acne scars today.

Well now you know that those acne scars of yours can in fact fade away, and you have a good idea of something you can do now to help speed that process along. Now all there is to do is find a method you want to try, and make sure it's one you can afford to get started with sooner than later.
